JOB DESCRIPTION

Sorauren Farmers’ Market – Administrative Planning Officer

Hours: 20 hours/week
Primarily daytime work with occasional evenings

Pay: $18.00 /hr
Start: May 2021
Finish: August 2021
Duration: 14 week contract
Attire: Casual
Other: Laptop computer is an asset.

  • 15-30 years old
  • legally entitled to work in Canada

THE POSITION:

Sorauren Farmers’ Market is seeking a passionate, organized, flexible, self- motivated individual to help us develop and implement projects and plans for the future growth of the market.

Sorauren Park, Roncesvalles Park, 50 Wabash Avenue

Majority of the work for this position will be done remotely with in-person support of the market as needed

SORAUREN FARMERS’ MARKET

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Thoroughly research, identify, and present funding opportunities throughout both the government and private sector to support the development of the Market. This includes grants, sponsorship and fundraising.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the Market’s sponsorship package/strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of projects the Market will implement in 2022 around themes of community agriculture, food justice and food security.
  • Research and implement best practices to support a successful online Market for winter
  • Support the in-person Farmers’ Market on Monday afternoons/evenings as needed
  • Work in accordance with applicable health and safety legislation, policies and procedures
  • Performing such other duties that may be assigned by the Market Manager and the Sorauren Farmers’ Market Board of Directors to support a successful market season in 2021 and beyond.

QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED

  • Strong research and project management skills
  • Excellent written communication skills across various media
  • Computer literate with experience working with Google Suite, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), and navigation of social media platforms.
  • Strong networking, community building, engagement skills
  • Reliable, responsible, sound judgment, tact and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Available Monday afternoons/evenings

QUALIFICATIONS – DESIRABLE

  • Experience working in a non-profit environment a definite asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of environmental issues, agricultural practices and food justice issues
  • Relevant experience developing websites in particular e-commerce
  • Interest/experience in fundraising and sponsorship
