Responsibilities

Reporting to the Mental Health & Addictions Manager, the Clinical Interventionist takes primary responsibility for overseeing the development, implementation, and coordination of clinical treatment programs for preschoolers with ASD.

The Clinical Interventionist will also be required to collaborate with members of the EIBI team and community partners/ organizations to provide a holistic, client/ family-centered approach.

The Clinical Interventionist is responsible for ensuring compliance with acts, regulations, and standards with the applicable professional body in Nova Scotia as well as acts, regulations, policies, standards, guidelines, mission and objectives of the Department Mental Health & Addictions and the NSHA.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree Psychology, Masters in Speech-Language Pathology, Board Certified Behavioural Interventionist or graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program with a focus on child development, behavioral principles, communication and social functioning or a related area of study required.
  • Registration/licensure with the appropriate professional regulatory organization as applicable.
  • Extensive experience working with children with behavioral and neurodevelopmental disorders, in particular autism spectrum disorders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in intervention for young children with ASD
  • Demonstrated expertise with the DSM-IV diagnostic system, case management, principles of behavioral management as well as psychological testing
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and implement treatment plans to promote positive adaptive behaviors, independence and skills development for preschoolers with ASD
  • Previous experience providing supervision
  • Demonstrated leadership skills working within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license.
  • Clean Criminal Record Check and a Child Abuse Registry check.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French Preferred

Hours of Work

Long Assignment, Full Time (100%) Position; 75 hours bi-weekly.
With an anticipated start date of February 1, 2021 and an expected end date of September 4, 2022.

Travel is required, must have valid Driver’s License.

Salary Information

Clinical Interventionist (HC87):
$34.99 – $45.99 hourly
