The City of Abbotsford is seeking a Temporary Finance & Payroll Clerk. The incumbent is responsible for prompt and accurate administrative support to the Finance Department to ensure that excellent customer service and quality assistance are provided to internal and external clients. Work is performed in accordance with established accounting procedures and payroll legislation. An employee of this class exercises independence of action and judgement within established guidelines referring unusual or complex problems to the supervisor.

In this role, you will enter data into payroll master records; including new employee information, changes in pay, benefits, deductions, tax exemptions and related information. Code and deposit cheques received relating to payroll. Create final scanned PDF copies of all payroll records. Provide clerical support for the Finance area including the cost allocation of the City’s newspaper publications, filing, letter of credits & cash securities assistance, basic financial analysis, and assist with financial information packages for management and council. Prepare, code, process and reconcile a variety of accounting documents. Prepare correspondence, routine reports, financial and statistical data and spreadsheets. Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by a post-secondary course in introductory accounting.
  • Minimum of one years’ clerical experience in a finance related position including processing invoices, data entry and working with spreadsheets.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $23.25 to $27.35.
