Job title: Senior Accountant

Job description: Biggar & District Accounting Services serves a variety of clients, focusing mainly on agricultural and other small businesses. Our clients trust us with their compilation engagements, personal and corporate tax, bookkeeping and payroll, AgriStability, and AgriInvest filing. This position arises from a need to service our clients during the 2023 tax season while one of our CPAs is on maternity leave. Depending on the candidate, this can be done remotely or from our office in Biggar, SK. We are interested in both full-time temporary and full-time permanent applicants.

Education
Post-secondary education is required, as well as the completion or near completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.

Duties
Preparation of compilation engagements
Preparation of personal and corporate tax returns and T4/T5 slips
Correspondence with clients
Contributing new ideas and approaches to improve work processes

Skills
Candidates should bring the following skillset and/or experience:
Experience in public accounting would be an asset.
Experience with the tax software, TaxCycle, and accounting software, CaseWare would be an asset while strong Microsoft Office skills are a necessity.
Excellent interpersonal communication (verbal and written), negotiation, and problem-solving skills are required.
The ability to prioritize and multitask.
The ability to work independently and as an integral member of our team.
A background and experience in agriculture would be considered an asset.

This is a temporary full-time position from January 2023 to May 2023 that might develop into a permanent full-time position. Depending on the candidate, training might start as soon as November 2022.
