Position Overview
As a general superintendent/project manager, you will plan and coordinate the production efforts of direct supervisors under your supervision and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly and efficiently. You will provide liaison between field engineers and crafts to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications. You will supervise electrical and mechanical disciplines at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision.

This position is based out of one of our projects in Toronto, ON
Responsibilities
- Managing the performance of productivity, safety, quality and schedule adherence.
- Utilize equipment, material, and labor in order to maximize production and minimize costs in the area of assigned responsibility.
- Coordinate and interface effectively with other craft superintendents and subcontractors, as well as staff personnel and leadership to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence.
- Resolve employee conflicts, grievances, and scheduling difficulties, informing project and corporate management as appropriate.
- Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor levels, material quantities, equipment requirements, etc.
- Ensure project rules, procedures and programs are followed consistently, including those involving safety, attendance, and workplace behavior standards as reflected in Company’s non-harassment and nondiscrimination policies
- May require to provide supervisory direction of craft workers
Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role
- Advanced knowledge of various electrical and mechanical construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate personnel performance.
- Ability to travel and relocate as needed
- Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
Education/Training/Exoerience
Generally requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role in electrical and mechanical disciplines on field construction projects and the proven ability to manage small projects. Must have thorough knowledge of the crafts. Must have leadership abilities and organizational skills. Proficiency at planning and scheduling work is a requirement. Must set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity for his/her subordinates.
