Job description: Sukhraj Deol and Navreetjot Deol d.b.a. Deol Farms is a blueberry and raspberry farm located in Aldergrove, BC. They are currently looking to hire 7 general farm workers (full-time, year-round work) as soon as possible to work on their farm.

Job Details:

• Job position: General Farm Worker
• Nature of job: Full-time, year-round work
• Number of positions: 7
• Salary: $15.20/hour for 40 hours per week
• Anticipated start date: As soon as possible
• Work location(s): 1354-272 Street, Aldergrove, BC; 1351-272 Street, Aldergrove, BC; 1454-268 Street, Aldergrove, BC; 27257-12B Avenue, Aldergrove, BC
• Vacation Pay: 4% of gross salary

Job Duties:

• Plant, fertilize, cultivate, spray, irrigate, and harvest crops
• Pruning and thinning of plants
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
• Examine farm produce for quality and prepare for market
• Load, unload and transfer crates, supplies, farm produce for transport
• Prepare land for planting when required
• Remove diseased and dead wood and weeds
• Protect crops from weeds and pests by taking appropriate actions
• Irrigate plants as directed
• Incorporate sawdust in planting beds as directed
• Repair water drip lines as directed
• Maintain, clean, and store farm tools after use
• Inform farm supervisor or owner of crop progress
• Report to and follow directions of supervisor
• Other farm related duties as required

Skills and Experience Required:

• Heavy lifting required
• Ability to work long hours, early mornings, and weekends required
• Job conditions include repetitive and physically demanding tasks
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• No education requirement
• Prior farming experience not required, but is an asset (new employees will be trained accordingly)

Job Benefits:

• First 3 months of medical insurance and relocation covered by the employer if needed
