Pembina has new and exciting opportunity and is looking for a Manager of Construction. This position is within the Facilities Division and reports to the Senior Manager, Engineering & Construction. The Manager of Construction will oversee a team that supports project design, planning, involved in contracts and leads construction. This position supports multiple projects simultaneously and be an integral contributor to Facilities Division Management Team. The division has an annual capital expenditure between $300-800 million per year.
Summary of Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include and not be limited to:
- The Manager of Construction will lead an Integrated Construction Management Team (CMT) to focus on the successful completion of projects to meet the goals in terms of, Safety, Quality, Schedule, and Cost;
- Shape strategy and vision for the construction organization and ensure alignment to corporate and division goals;
- Develop a culture within the CMT to focus and execute the projects with a common vision of schedule, cost, and efficiency management;
- Lead the development of new, or updating of existing construction standards, procedures, and systems to enable successful delivery of construction activities through a repeatable process;
- Leading the development of construction execution plans, safe work plans, and supporting the development of schedules, estimates, and execution plans during the design development and execution stages of projects;
- Responsible for fostering the growth of a progressive safety culture, inclusive of contractors and vendors with a focus on prevention and leading indicators;
- Initiate and conduct construction readiness assessments prior to mobilizing;
- Helps develop our contractor safety management program;
- Accountable to both Managers of Project Engineering and the PM’s in terms of project delivery;
- Accountable to ensure the quality requirements are understood and incorporated;
- Build and Maintain a roster of qualified and competent Construction Management Team (CMT) members through onboarding and competency management systems;
- Ensure site construction contracts are developed, awarded and kicked-off in a timely manner to support construction activities;
- Ensure all contract changes are identified at site or through the Project Management Team (PMT) and is approved and implemented through the Contract Administration process and executed;
- Administers Construction Contractor’s Quality Assurance / Quality Control program;
- Ensure construction walkdown deficiencies are cleared on a priority basis and systems are readied for Mechanical Completion and Turnover in time to support the Commissioning & Start–up (C&SU) schedule;
- Ensure all turnover management processes are in place for meeting the Engineer of Record (EOR) acceptance and execution of the facility;
- Prepare construction progress reports;
- Ensure all Lessons Learned from construction execution, pre-commissioning and Start-up (C&SU) are identified, documented and vetted through the Lessons Learned process; and
- Influence support and participate in a diverse and inclusive work environment
Qualifications
- Candidates will have 20+ years of experience in Fabrication, Construction and Execution of projects, +$350MM in size with a focus on Oil and Gas Facilities;
- Progressive supervision & leadership of large cross functional and diverse teams;
- Previous Energy Industry experience as an asset;
- Must be highly analytical, possess strong business and financial acumen and have excellent communication skills;
- Candidates will preferably possess a Project Management Professional certification (PMP) or execution experience using a project stage gate system;
- Working knowledge of fabrication and construction requirements, standards, codes, and regulations and codes; and
- Ability to travel.
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
