Reporting to the General Supervisor Dam Construction, The Dam Construction Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the daily construction activities of several contractors working on large dams and related heavy earthworks projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of construction projects required to support operation of a broad network of operating and legacy tailings facilities, water supply dams, and water management and water supply infrastructure. They will have exceptional safety leadership, communication, and Motivated self-starter with the ability to multi-task and excel in a fast paced, dynamic environment

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures;
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day construction activities and construction progress according to the project specifications, scope of work and schedule, and respond appropriately to work delays, emergencies, and other issues;
  • Measure and provide feedback on the performance of contractors in achieving key operating targets such as safety, environmental compliance, productivity, quality control, schedule compliance, cost control and other contractual requirements to improve the effectiveness of the contractor;
  • Collaborate with the various departments to develop short- and long-term construction plans and schedules; groups include Dam Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and Technical groups;
  • Perform dam surveillance and inspections on tailings and water dams;

Qualifications:

  • Technical diploma, degree, or similar qualification in mining, civil or geotechnical engineering; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining or construction supervision;
  • Knowledge of BC Mines Code requirements and possess or eligible for a valid shift boss ticket;
