Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Mental Health Therapist – Wainwright Crisis. Working with the Wainwright Crisis Response team and the addiction and mental health team, and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide on-call crisis intervention and assessment services to adults and children who present in the Emergency Room with psychiatric disorders (currently on weekends and stat holidays. May expand in future). Utilizing a variety of treatment modalities, you will provide risk assessment and brief therapy services. Additional responsibilities will also include working in partnership with and providing consultation to community agencies, and physicians in the continuum of mental health care. Description:
As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of one of the following programs: master’s degree in Psychology; master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master’s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master’s degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:
Membership in professional association/college as per The Health Professions Act. Social Worker must be authorized to do psychosocial interventions. Cultural competency in First Nations populations. Knowledge of First nation’s history, trauma, traditions and healing practices. Knowledge of Aboriginal traditional wellness practices that support addiction and mental health prevention, recovery and health promotion. Mental Health assessment and crisis response, addiction counseling and brief therapy. 5 years experience in mental health/addictions. Non-Graduated driver’s license (non-GDL) and access to a reliable personal vehicle. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. Preferred Qualifications:
2 years’ experience in community mental health settings. Experience working in rural settings.
