About the Role
Dock Supervisor
Full-time, permanent
Edmonton, AB
The Dock Supervisor is responsible for overall dock operations including day to day processes and procedures, ensure safety, and optimize dock performance.
How you’ll help:
- Provide guidance by exhibiting a positive attitude, developing collaborative working relationships, and providing clear direction to employees.
- Communicate clear expectations and hold team accountable to those expectations, maintain good working relationships with drivers, manage time effectively, and operate in an independent and capable manner
- Manage dock operations with limited supervision.
- Responsible for dock safety for self and employees, and corrects any safety issues within their control, escalates concerns to the Operations Manager where required.
- Work with the team to improve current processes and create efficiencies.
- Other related duties as may be required
Your Skills & Experience:
- Previous Transportation or operational experience is preferred, various roles within transportation would be beneficial
- Lead hand or supervisor experience (minimum 1-2 years)
- Minimum of secondary education, with preference of post-secondary education (general stream), or a combination of education and experience
- Warehouse and/or cross dock experience
- Experience with AS400/Truckmate an asset
- Computer skills – Microsoft Office with Word or Excel a strong asset
- Attention to detail
- Well organized
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Education – secondary school, business management/administration skills
- Flexible work schedule
- In-depth knowledge of safety practices
- Forklift certification
- Previous working experience with TDG/WHMIS
