Job description: The Field Project Controller will:

  • Progress Reporting
  • Administration of Project Information in the Progress Reporting System.
  • Ensure the daily inspection reports are checked for consistency and integrity.
  • Analyze the information provided and resolve any discrepancies that are identified with the Construction Management Team and the Inspectors.
  • Review the Contractor-supplied daily progress reports and identify and resolve any discrepancies to the inspection reports.
  • Publish daily progress reporting updates to the project stakeholders.
  • On a weekly basis, review the progress reporting with the Construction Management Team and with the Contractor to review and resolve deviations from the plan that were identified.
  • Independent Quantity Surveying through physical visits to the right of way to ascertain actual progress.
  • Cost Reporting
  • Provide administrative support to facilitate the daily reporting of timesheets in the Progress Reporting System.
  • Compare Contractor’s timesheet reports to the inspector’s timesheet reports and identify/resolve any discrepancies that are found.
  • Compare and analyze the reconciled timesheets (labour and equipment hours) reported by the Inspectors and the Contractors to the planned hours on a daily basis and provide early warning if the actual progress deviates from the plan.
  • On a weekly basis, validate the revised timesheet reports and compile the information in the Labour Equipment Materials (LEM) Log.
  • Resolve any discrepancies that are identified together with the Cost Controller. Review this item for separation of duties standpoint. Responsibilities between Field Cost Controller and the Field Contract Analyst

Qualifications:

  • Detail-oriented approach to ensure accurate and reliable information is generated.
  • Post-secondary education in either business, engineering or related discipline demonstrating abilities in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Detail-oriented approach to ensure accurate and reliable information is generated.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities to build strong working relationships with stakeholders from different disciplines.
  • Adaptable and flexible to work with and develop procedures on a limited number of field-specific procedures to meet the unique project-specific requirements on site.
