The Irrigation Technician reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and is responsible for ensuring that the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course is in impeccable condition.

What you will be doing:

• Operate, maintain and repair a complex irrigation system, including leaks in distribution lines, valves, control lines and sprinkler heads
• Maintain and repairs the master and satellite controllers
• Compressor experience required for blow out of the system
• Periodically inspect the various components of the irrigation system to insure that they are operating properly
• Constant attention to preventative maintenance schedule, keeping records to ensure that all areas of the course are working to optimal performance at all times
• Other duties as assigned

Your experience and skills include:

• 1 year previous experience as an Irrigation Technician is required
• Minimum of 3 years previous experience in golf course maintenance is required
• Working knowledge of Stratus II Irrigation Program is preferred
• Post-secondary education in Turf Management is an asset
• Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system
• Must be a team player who has the ability to work well with minimum supervision
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with a clean record is required

Phsyical aspects include but are not limited to:

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
• Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, digging, and backfilling
