Position Summary & Duties

As member of the Cancer Care Quality and Innovation Program the Quality and Implementation Specialist for Digital and Shared Care will be the ambassador for quality improvement and implementation science and will be the pivotal Lead for the following accountabilities:

  • To advance the innovative use of our health information system, EPIC to optimize clinical care, workflow and outcomes
  • To develop the strategy for advancing EPIC innovation and optimization, to enhance system level improvements
  • To advance shared care models with development of protocols, MOUs and patient pathways
  • To lead several large and small scale quality improvement projects through application of proven methodologies eg. process mapping, PDSA cycles, control charts
  • To provide project management support focused on innovation in digital and shared care with demonstratable outcomes program-wide and locally; units or clinics
  • To utilise change management skills to implement and support change in models of care to support care delivery for the future
  • To complete quality audits, observations, stakeholder interviews and chart reviews to identify issues and facilitate change in practice
  • To lead working groups with key clinical stakeholders to gain consensus in best practice and clinical advancements
  • To work with Medical Leadership, CQIN Program Manager, and Clinic/Unit Managers and Educators to integrate clinical best practices, legislative requirements and policies standard care
  • To participate in the relevant Committees and administrative tasks to advance quality improvement within the Program; preparation of QI Project Charters

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelors degree
  • Minimum of 6-8 years practical and related experience in the healthcare field
  • Previous experience with EPIC, Health Information System as asset
  • Previous experience in development of strategy, protocols and pathways an asset
  • Project management experience required
  • Previous experience in quality, safety and performance improvement methods is required
  • Experience leading Quality Improvement initiatives within healthcare is required
  • Experience working with physicians and other clinicians is required
  • Project planning, with QI project charters and Implementation experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating a major change initiative in a health care environment
  • Demonstrated change management skills (consulting, negotiating, influencing)
  • Knowledge of hospital organizational structure and processes preferred
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders is required
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Analytical ability with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office applications required
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
