Mental Wellness and Substance Use (MWSU) Community Hubs provide a wide range of mental wellness support in all Yukon communities. Our services include; individual counselling, outreach services, workshops, and community support. While working within a dynamic and compassionate team and collaborating with First Nation governments and community partners, we are dedicated to enhancing the well-being of community members.

We are looking for a Support Worker to join the Mental Wellness Substance Use Services in Mayo. As a Support Worker working alongside Mental Wellness Clinicians in Mayo and Dawson, you will deliver one to one supported independent living services, assist with planning and implementing psycho-social rehabilitation groups. You will work closely with other community agencies as resources in the provision and coordination of these services to enable clients to live as independently as possible in the community.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications – specifically – how your work experiences and related duties align with the essential qualifications shown below. Note that selection for further consideration will be based on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Diploma in mental health/addictions, community service worker or related field
  • Recent experience providing services to clients who need support with activities of daily living due to mental health/addiction-related concerns
  • Experience completing assessments, planning and implementing support plans
  • Experience working in/with First Nation Communities in remote settings and on-the-land practices will be considered an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

  • Ability to take a broad-based, strategic approach to planning and delivering services

Additional Information:

Conditions of Employment: Vulnerable Sector RCMP Security clearance, WHMIS 2015, Standard First Aid (within 6 months of the position start date), and Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

Job Requirements: This position needs to work in a variety of work locations; occasionally exposed to clients who are aggressive due to their illness and/or substance abuse. During the winter there is exposure to extreme weather and road conditions. Expected to work in Mayo and possibly other locations. Travel for work is required of the position.
