Job description: Morgan Construction and Environmental Ltd. is a rapidly growing civil construction contractor. Morgan currently holds long-term contracts in Alberta for oilfield/oil sands civil construction projects and is involved in numerous infrastructure projects.

Based in Edmonton, this Systems Analyst is responsible for developing and producing reports, creating dashboards, maximizing the use of Office 365 and other programs to drive innovation and efficiencies throughout the organization. This new role will apply advanced level of SQL programming, knowledge of reporting tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS),act as a PowerBI subject matter expert, and build creative software solutions that drive costs down and productivity up.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, maintain and update reports, dashboards, and self-serve and automated tools to support business analytic requirements.
  • Assist in testing, data quality, training, and documentation efforts.
  • Validate that MS Power BI can meet requirements.
  • Leverage the full suite of Microsoft Office 365; advise, train, and implement new programs that align well to our business needs.
  • Act as a key support for the successful integration of new systems into current platforms and infrastructure to allow for a seamless launch of new products.
  • Advise the organization on SharePoint assessments, recommendations, roadmaps, upgrades, and workflows to enhance the overall usage of the intranet portal for all users.
  • Analyze users’ needs and then design, test, and develop software to meet those needs.
  • Recommend software upgrades for existing programs and systems.
  • Design each piece of an application or system and plan how the pieces will work together.
  • Support digitalization efforts with the goal of moving to a paper-less organization across all departments.
  • Actively engage internal stakeholders to build trust and gain a full understanding of their needs by effectively interpret and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Proactively identify opportunities, processes, and standards for the effective and efficient use of data.
  • Map data to existing structure and work with others to train and develop skills to build a sustainable environment.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present data findings, trends and actionable insights. Support and manage data information, mining and report requests, and swiftly address to resolve issues.
  • Build and maintain data integration mechanisms.
  • Train and empower corporate users on standards and processes relating to all things data, systems, and reporting.
  • Work closely with IT provider to ensure a collaborative and unified approach to all enforced changes.

  • Comfortable producing data visualization reporting and dashboards and confident making recommendations while implementing high-value solutions.
  • Uses critical thinking to analyze and interpret information to make decisions, make recommendations and to solve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical users.

Requirements

  • A computer engineering degree, or related programs.
  • Working knowledge of performance analytics reporting, data structure design, data mining, dashboard development is required.
  • A keen desire to drive innovation and seek to find creative solutions.
  • Solid experience within the Microsoft business intelligence technology stack including Microsoft PowerBI and data technologies (i.e. Explorer, SQL Server, Tableau, etc.).
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Programming experience with SSIS and SSRS.
  • Ability to travel to various sites and offices throughout Alberta in order to meet face to face with internal and external clients.
