The Health Sector Information, Analysis and Reporting Division (HSIAR) sets the foundation for the delivery of high-quality health sector information, analytics and reporting. The Division leads key information management functions including data stewardship, governance, security, access, analytics and reporting, quality assurance, performance measurement and evaluations functions. HSIAR sets out to exercise effective governance over data resources, while enabling timely and secure access to data, supporting an integrated, modernized model of information sharing across the health sector. The Division leads the overarching provincial analytic strategy and approach, and performs comprehensive, integrated analysis of health sector performance to ensure a consistent and timely approach to health system measurement utilizing a client centered approach.

Data Management and Stewardship (DMS) provides leadership in the use of, and access to, health data to support evidence-informed decisions, policy, analysis and research directed to achieving improvements in health outcomes. The branch is responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic vision for health secondary data management and data security, ensuring that ministry data assets are appropriately managed and effectively leveraged.

The Role: At the full working level, implement the compliance monitoring function of HSIAR by; supporting the development of policies and standards for compliance monitoring; conducting logging and monitoring across key systems and implementing controls and risk-reducing measures to mitigate the threat of future exposures.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Health Information Science or other related discipline and a minimum of 1 years recent related experience; OR
  • Diploma or in Computer Science, or other related discipline and a minimum of 2 years of recent related experience may be considered; OR
  • Certificate in Computer Science, or other related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of recent related experience may be considered; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and recent related experience may be considered.

Recent related experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience in applying and interpreting information technology security, compliance monitoring and audit policies and procedures and developing client specific guidelines and best practices.
  • Experience providing customer support services in information technology environments.
  • Experience in Structured Query Language, relational data modeling and data management principles, structured analysis and design, and documentation of business requirements.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Experience in security information and event management tools/applications.
  • Experience in principles of Data Warehouse security.
  • Experience in Oracle databases
  • Experience in business intelligence tools.
  • Completion of course work leading to a designation as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional.
