The Office of Audit and Evaluation provides independent, evidence-based assurance and advice to the President, the Performance Measurement and Evaluation Committee, and NRC senior management. Both internal audit and evaluation are mature, well-established functions. The evaluation function provides independent and credible information that supports informed decision making on policy, program, expenditure management and allocation of resources. Evaluation plays an important role verifying that results, expected outcomes and objectives are being achieved.

To deliver on its mandate, we are seeking an experienced Director to lead the Evaluation function. Under the direction of the Director General, Office of Audit and Evaluation, the Director, Evaluation will provide strategic and functional leadership including annual evaluation planning, financial and human resource planning and management and directing evaluation projects. The Director of Evaluaton would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

Education

A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization in a discipline relevant to the position (such as but not limited to business administration, public administration, commerce and economics).

Credentialed Evaluator designation from the Canadian Evaluation Society is considered an asset.

Experience

  • Recent experience managing human and financial resources in a federal government organization including managing people in a participative and team-oriented environment, budget management, and project management.
  • Recent and significant experience leading all phases of evaluation projects (planning, conducting, reporting and follow-up).
  • Significant experience providing strategic advice, briefings and written reports in an evaluation context to senior management (Director General and above or equivalent) and evaluation governance committees.
  • Recent experience developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including central agencies and other government departments and agencies.

  • Ability to work under pressure, to manage priorities with limited resources to achieve multiple and changing objectives and to handle several tasks at once and meet deadlines.

Compensation

From $136,317 to $163,554 per annum.
