Department Summary
The Finance Department’s primary collective function is managing cash flow in and out of MSC Canada. Ultimately reporting all numbers back to Geneva, the Finance Department collects and accurately inputs outstanding customer invoices while processing and paying our vendors in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Position Summary
The Cash Application Representative is responsible for accurate processing of all incoming payments from customers in a timely manner.
Key accountabilities
General Tasks
- Ensure processing of all import/incoming transactions
- Respond to and resolve customer emails/calls on issues related to payments for processing release
- Clear any open items in SAP accounts
- Collect cash payments and notify relevant parties
- Respond to and take necessary action on Customer Admin functions and e-mail Inbox
Specific tasks
- Enter all import cheques/cash/wire transfers are into SAP
- Update MSC Link to accurately reflect incoming payments and notify necessary parties for container release
- Reconcile MSC bank accounts with Accounts receivables and send notifications to customers
- Ensure elsewhere payment notifications are updated in Link and internal transfers are issued in SAP
- Update and create customer profiles in TMS/Link/MAP/SAP
Qualifications and Competencies

- Ability to multi-task: Can proceed and accomplish somewhat repetitive tasks while monitoring phones and emails in a timely manner
- Attention to detail while working quickly and under pressure: Can maintain the both the quality and the productivity standards while ensuring follow through on assigned tasks.
- Resourceful problem solver with a high sense of urgency
- Independent worker with ability to communicate and contribute positively in a team environment
- Bilingual an Asset
- CEGEP or College diploma
- 0-2 years of experience preferred Previous accounting experience or knowledge of accounting principles an asset (IE: Statement reconciliation)
- Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- SAP knowledge an asset
