Job description: This is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Applied Computing. The Academic Program Manager is responsible for the development, maintenance and delivery of a portfolio of programs and projects offered by the School to provide exceptional teaching and boundless opportunities for students. The incumbent assists Associate Deans with on-going supervision and development of non-full-time faculty as well as organizing student success initiatives and providing student support. They conduct market research to recommend and implement new programming, program changes, and for curriculum development. They foster relationships, internally and externally, and implement strategies to attract and support students and faculty in the portfolio and to promote diversity and inclusion.

The Academic Program Manager also supports the Associate Deans with the quality of program services and collaborates with faculty, staff and the leadership team supporting the portfolio. This position is critical to the on-going success of all programs within the School of Applied Computing and supports financial and program development targets.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Organizing and managing programs to support students and promote strategies to improve academic integrity.
  • Supporting the recruitment of non-full-time faculty including supervision of onboarding and mentorship, advising on Sheridan Policy and Procedures and coaching faculty assigned to course leadership.
  • Assists Associate Deans with term activities such as academic integrity and appeal processes, academic advisement and resolution of student concerns.
  • Interacting with internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute unique events and projects, managing donations, grants and gifts to ensure maximum impact on the student experience and overseeing capital projects and renovations once approved.
  • Assisting with the management of both the annual and comprehensive program review process for academic programs of study within the school and managing the development of innovative programs through the quality assurance process by working with internal and external stakeholders to assure successful implementation.
  • Collecting, analyzing and maintaining data to improve bench strength and ability to deliver state-of-the-art relevant curriculum, producing periodic environmental scans of the marketplace and competitive programs to find emerging trends and recommending ways to capitalize on opportunities.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business or related field of study
  • 5 years of proven decision-making experience in managing multiple activities in the educational sector to deliver courses or programming (Equivalency will be considered)
  • Intermediate to advanced computer software skills: word processing; spreadsheets; presentations
  • Experience developing financial budgets, reports and planning and implementing program operations to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, student success, equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Demonstrated knowledge of post-secondary educational and management structures, student recruitment and enrolment practices.
  • Demonstrated program development skills with the ability to implement procedures
