Your Challenge

Help bring research to life and drive your career forward with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), Canada’s largest research and technology organization.

We are looking for an Administrative & Operational Support Coordinator to support the new Biologics Manufacturing Centre (BMC). The Administrative & Operational Support Coordinator would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

The new Biologics Manufacturing Centre (BMC), currently under construction by the NRC, will help to accelerate Canada’s capacity to produce, access and supply vaccines and other biologics. Certified as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliant, the facility will have full end-to-end production capability for mammalian cell-based biologics. This includes a production capacity of approximately 4000 litres per month, upstream and downstream processing, a fill and finish system, a quality control lab, secondary packaging, and related logistics management of final products. In the short-term, the BMC’s top priority and focus is to help secure the production of a COVID-19 vaccine for Canadians as quickly as possible, once one is approved by Health Canada. In the longer term, the BMC’s focus will be on providing innovative solutions for the domestic production and supply of novel biologics for the future, while providing Canada with access to a facility that is ready to respond to emergencies, such as a pandemic.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Administrative & Operational Support Coordinator will be responsible to deliver a comprehensive range of administrative support services for the BMC in the areas of planning, organizing, coordinating and delivery of office operations (contracting, security, COVID protocols, project, financial and procurement and other support services) to ensure effective and efficient operations. The Coordinator will establish procedures and implement improvements to work processes to achieve common shared administrative processes within the Centre. The incumbent will also provide direction to the Administrative Assistant reporting to the Director General as needed.

In the longer term, it is expected that the BMC will transition to be operated through a public-private partnership. This position will be key in supporting the transition of all relevant administrative and operational support activities.
