Job description: Reporting directly to the Business Manager, Neurosurgery, Edmonton Zone, this position provides administrative and academic support to members of the Division of Neurosurgery. Working in a fast paced environment, you will be responsible for arranging patient clinics, booking surgical procedures and diagnostic testing and assisting with the completion and reporting of academic activities. As this position serves as a liaison between patients, physicians and other support services, the incumbent must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. You must exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills, possess an excellent understanding of medical terminology, demonstrate initiative and maintain confidentiality at all times.

As an Administrative Support IV, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. course(s) in business administration, medical office assistant), or other related fields.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of post-secondary education specializing in Medical Office Assistant. Medical Terminology is required. Candidate must have a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced skills in Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills are required along with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. We are seeking an individual with outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. The successful candidate must be able to exercise professionalism, judgement, tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with highly sensitive and confidential issues. Physical demand of the position including sitting and using a computer/keyboard for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications:
A diploma in Office Administration focused on Medical Office Assistant training with a minimum of three years experience in a health care setting. Training in Connect Care is preferred.
