Course Description: Series of workshops related to professional development. Guest speakers on special topics will be invited. Students also work in teams (peer groups) to complete hands-on and online learning modules. This includes professional development, entrepreneur, design and teambuilding activities sponsored by the Faculty of Engineering’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Engineering Design as well as the University Career Center. It will include required modules on academic writing, plagiarism and conducting a literature review.

Requirements:

The Applicant must have worked professionally in a field relevant to engineering or information technology for at least five years and be an active researcher at the doctoral level in their field. -Expert knowledge of the course subject matter, demonstrated by relevant publications or experience. -Applicant must have significant experience mentoring technical people with advanced degrees to success in their careers, and must be able to provide students with experiences that build up their technical skills, their soft skills (communication, teamwork, project management) and their professional networks. -Experience as a volunteer or instructor at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Engineering Design is preferred.

An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
