Job description: The Flying Pig Group of Restaurants is looking for an experienced Restaurant Assistant General Manager. We are a rapidly growing group of restaurants focusing on fresh local ingredients. Our restaurants are welcoming and comfortable venues featuring our own interpretations of classic comfort food. We have locations in Gastown, Yaletown and Olympic Village.

Here is a brief and partial overview of manager expectations:
– exceptional leadership skills
– commitment to exceeding guest expectations
– ability to develop and motivate staff to achieve challenging goals
– Sommelier certification or an equivalent, along with Food Safe and Serving it Right certification are expected
– the candidate should be available for a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. – Good working knowledge of computers, including Excel and Word and extensive experience with Micros is also required as well as related forms of electronic debit and credit terminals
– Must be able to multi-task and work in all areas of the restaurant as might be required
– Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to set priorities for self and others
– Ability to develop and motivate staff to achieve challenging goals Duties will include the following:
– control and evaluate the operations of a restaurant
– implement operational procedures
– resolve customer complaints
– ensure health and safety regulations are followed
– manage maintenance and repair of equipment and furniture
– support the General Manager in any way required to achieve the best results for the guest and the restaurant.

Management candidates must also demonstrate excellent customer service skills, and manage all restaurant activities and operation A degree or diploma in hospitality, business administration, accounting, computer or related field is not required, but would be an asset in applying for a management position.
