Responsibilities
Please Note: This is a designated position. The successful candidate must self-identify as African Nova Scotian in order to be considered for this role.
The Nova Scotia Brotherhood and Nova Scotia Sisterhood through a holistic primary health care approach is to provide the opportunity to improve the health outcomes and well-being of the African Nova Scotian community in Halifax, specifically females.
Reporting to the Health Services Manager and working under the direction of the Team Leader, the Booking and Registration Clerk is responsible for the registration of all clinic patients; for the scheduling and communicating of patient appointments; for the coordination of health records for the clinic visit; for gathering and entering of information for Clinic statistics (including diagnostic information) and for assisting in the general organization and efficiency of the Clinic.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 plus one year of related experience, OR graduation from a recognized secretarial / office administration / business program
- Computer skills (MS Office, Outlook and internet)
- Minimum typing speed of 45wpm preferred
- Experience working with electronic medical records preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset
- Must be able to function independently in a high volume and highly pressurized ambulatory care setting
- Demonstrated verbal communication, accuracy and speed skills
- Coordination, organization and decision making skills
- Ability to learn and work quickly and be adaptable to change
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
** Skills test with passing score of 70% may be conducted
