About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Business Analyst to join our dynamic Integrated Supply Chain – Business Systems team.

The Integrated Supply Chain – Business Systems team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring of Donor Relations & Supply Chain business systems’ updates and enhancements. Our mission is to achieve interoperability between systems, establish superior user experience, and enable business strategy.

In this role, you will identify and complete small to medium tasks as part of projects and software releases; these tasks include, but are not limited to, requirements definition and refinement, business analysis, identifying areas for improvement, leading small to medium size initiatives, supporting roadmap planning and execution, performing systems testing, and coordinating user acceptance testing. In addition, this role involved interfacing with various IT departments to complete requirements gathering and integration coordination for new and existing business systems.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your analytical skills and data management experience, you will determine system and corresponding process operational objectives by studying business functions and systems capabilities, gathering information, evaluating requirements, and applying best practice methodologies for enhancement planning.
  • Drawing on your collaboration and interpersonal skills you will work with business and technical stakeholders; facilitate requirement gathering workshops; clarify business requirements to optimize solutions development; and build strong client relationships to create strategic and tactical plans for the business and our clients.
  • Utilizing your continuous improvement mindset, you will study current practices and design modifications to come up with recommendations for system improvements. This includes supporting the design of new features and enhancements for existing business systems; and recommending controls by identifying problems and writing improved procedures.
  • Leveraging your project management and planning skills, you will develop and support the creation of user stories, design documents, use cases, test cases, process flows, release notes, and user awareness communications.
  • Drawing on your leadership and documentation skills you will lead insight generation by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information trends to build reports for collaborative key stakeholder review and decision-making purposes this includes the development of business cases and project documentations.
  • Utilizing your knowledge and experience you will support master data and reporting programs with governance coordination, knowledge transfer and maintenance where required.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of post-secondary education from an accredited institution in a relevant discipline; preferably in Business, Computer Science or Computer/Software Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years experience as a project manager, systems analyst, or business analyst.
  • Experience in documenting and analysing business processes, with aptitude for systems design and optimization is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and manufacturing is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of information systems and applicable regulatory standards
  • Experience with SAP, Salesforce, or equivalent ERP/Planning/CRM tools with a strong desire to learn new IT skills and enhance project management skills.
  • Technical skills including Agile software development and Familiarity with the BABOK – Business Analysis Body of Knowledge.
  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and clients.

What you can expect

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time.
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours a day, additional hours may be required depending on project requirements.
  • Occasional travel will be required to attend team meetings and project-related work.
