Job title: CAD/GIS TECHNOLOGIST

Job description: Reporting to Director of Housing and Technical Services, the CADD/GIS Technologist operates and maintains computer – based information systems for housing, community facilities, and land use.

Position Description

Administer computer-based information systems in the areas of housing, mapping, asset inventories, and maintenance management.
Direct/Assist staff in the collection of field data, including formatting of reports or surveys.
Provide Global Positioning Systems (GPS) Surveying
Input of data, using various methods such as keyboard entry, scanning, downloading from data collectors.
Import and format data for use in various information systems.
Database/Spreadsheet development
Update and analyze data using computer-based information systems producing reports and summaries to meet the requirements of the Housing and Technical staff, ISC, and member First Nations.
Research and make recommendations regarding hardware and software needs.
Train staff in the use of computers and application software.
Facilitate the planning and implementation of a Geographical Information System.
Assist other departments of the Tribal Council regarding use of Computer-based information systems.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a post-secondary technical course in an Engineering/Civil Technology program.
Minimum five (5) years’ experience preferred
Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and GIS programs.
Knowledge of surveying, mapping, construction, and facilities maintenance.
Working knowledge or training involving computers and applications software.
Working knowledge of database and spreadsheet programs.
Ability to work and think independently with minimum supervision.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural setting.
A.Sc.T. certification or the ability to obtain certification
Must have own vehicle and driver’s license
Other related duties
