About Our Opportunity
The Classification Consultant consults, collaborates, and provides advice on organizational and job design and classifies jobs ensuring alignment with department business objectives, effective organization and classification of positions and corporate consistency.
Primary Accountabilities
The Classification Consultant leads and participates in projects to streamline processes, maintain classification systems, and job families and build knowledge, capacity and expertise with partners, clients, and colleagues.
The Consultant is an expert on jobs, and classification providing advice and testimony on classification related disputes at hearings and tribunals.
Qualifications and Experience
Post-secondary education with courses in Human Resources and/or Compensation or Organizational Design with minimum of 3 years’ experience consulting, collaborating and leading projects; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A professional designation with a concentration in Compensation is an asset.
Experience consulting, analyzing information to assess client needs, partnering, providing advice and feedback to colleagues and senior leaders as well as planning, researching, developing options, communicating findings, and explaining outcomes.
Experience developing and leading presentations and training others one on one or in group settings is an asset.
Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: Conceptual Thinking, Strategic Orientation, Outcome Focus, Initiative, Effective Interactive Communication, Partnering and Relationship Building, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
Equivalency
An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.
Equivalencies considered but are not limited to include:
- 5 or more years expereince in Human Resources and/or Compensation or Organizational Design.
- Training related to Human Resources and/or Compensation or Organizational Design.

- Majority of time is spent in a comfortable office setting with frequent opportunity to move about.
- High concentration of visual demands for proof reading and entering data into a computer database, giving close attention to detail.
- Pressures to meet deadlines with attention to accuracy.
