Job description: The Clinical Support Analyst/Trainer reports to the Manager or designate and works within a multi-site health care environment. The Clinical Support Analyst/Trainer provides clinical application training and education services plus utilization support for a variety of internal and/or external users of the organization’s clinical applications. Partners with clinical informatics, clinical education and professional practice on projects, improvement initiatives, committees and stakeholder communication. The Clinical Support Analyst/Trainer performs learning needs analysis, develops and revises training documentation, implements and evaluates training programs using adult learning principles, and consults with stakeholders to address issues and coordinate training activities. Investigates and responds to clinical application utilization problems, identifies and triages issues and trends arising from utilization problems, and escalates issues with applications, practices or procedures as needed. Provides clinical guidance regarding clinical application functions, usage and procedures.

The Clinical Support Analyst/Trainer adheres to applicable standards of practice, code of ethics and patient care guidelines in the conduct of his/her role.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide training including on-boarding and reactivation to user groups and individuals on clinical applications by aligning needs to course curriculum, conducting learning needs analysis to determine training requirements, utilizing in-house and/or developing training materials and resources to meet training needs, conducting formal presentations and demonstrations or one-to-one training. Ensure learning session outcomes are met. Use educational technology and self-directed learning methods to implement planned programs.
  • Triage, process and respond to clinical applications utilization problems by monitoring ServiceNow ticket queue, working with clinical service desk and collaborating with access and provisioning, providing resolutions via telephone or email, investigating problems, taking corrective action in accordance with established procedures. Provide clinical guidance regarding clinical application functions, usage and procedures for 1st call resolution and triage and escalate to 2nd tier support as required.

3. Identify and triage issues/trends arising from clinical utilization problems with the relevant applications, practices or procedures for escalation by methods such as gathering information from users, identifying trends and communicating with technical staff and HO clinical informatics, medical staff, clinicians, allied support staff and management to assist with the resolution of reoccurring problems. * Maintain various manuals, and on-line training and reference documentation by revising, editing and distributing documentation when new modules are installed or existing modules are upgraded; and/or when revisions to clinical applications or procedures are implemented to ensure consistent usage by users at all sites.

  • Contribute to the establishment of educational standards for clinical applications training and works collaboratively with HO clinical education staff, professional practice, clinical informatics, project staff, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead the evaluation of education outcomes against curriculum. Evaluate effectiveness of training programs, activities and resources by analyzing learning outcomes, developing and using evaluation tools such as competency matrices, assessing feedback provided by managers/supervisors to determine opportunities for quality improvement in training delivery and content.
  • Coordinate, plan, and schedule training as needed including classroom set-up, course creation, communications about training requirements, and tracking training completion.
  • Prepare a variety of learning reports using computer software for management including producing administrative, statistical and graphical reports as requested.
  • Set measurable personal performance goals and objectives within a team or individual environment, incorporating the organization’s vision, mission, and values, goals and strategic plan, through methods such as maintaining and updating own knowledge of clinical and professional development within area of practice, which may include periodically working in a clinical setting to maintain own practice knowledge.
  • Maintain currency on technological information including relevant application functionality through self-directed learning, including reviewing current literature and research, participating in vendor user groups, and attending relevant conferences and workshops.
  • Apply a research approach to problem solving learning issues through methods such as reviewing relevant literature/resources and applying research finding within established procedures and/or in accordance with applicable practice standards and in collaboration with professional practice, learning and other health care performers. Evaluate results.
  • Participate in assigned projects, team meetings and committees such as the change management committee, and contributes to quality improvement initiatives by representing the views of the team, actively participating in discussions and providing feedback and suggestions as appropriate.
  • Facilitate, collaborate and support transitions and system change management, as well as related communication with stakeholders.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Health Sciences profession, Education or an equivalent field.
  • Two (2) years’ recent related experience including one (1) year’s recent experience with the use of computer applications systems, and teaching/education experience in the development and delivery of training programs in a computerized client care environment.
  • May be required to travel and/or participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical utilization of clinical applications.
  • Broad knowledge of patient care policies, procedures and standards of care.
  • Broad knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with learner assessment and providing feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with individuals and groups in a consultative/collaborative manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, present, facilitate, engage and lead in a classroom setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop educational materials.
  • Demonstrated technical competency and ability in the use of computer applications and communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload in a self-directed manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand change dynamics and change management processes.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
