Our Clinical Therapists provide assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients. The Clinical Therapist carries out the general duties of the service team but in addition to those duties, participates in quality initiatives in the program of care, engages in collaborative person-centred care, and utilizes available information technology to support best practice. The Clinical Therapist receives and provides supervision and mentorship as part of a community of practice. It is an expectation that the Clinical Therapist will act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession. They will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups. Our various opportunities include child and youth, adult, community mental health, outreach, intake and other specialties within our Mental Health & Addictions teams.

Nova Scotia Health Mental Health and Addictions Program is actively seeking Clinical Therapists to support services in , and zones (click for more information about living and working in a particular zone).

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Masters degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology (Registered with a Masters or PhD), Masters in Counselling, Masters in Nursing or Masters in Occupational Therapy)
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure with the respective licensing body (Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW); Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP); Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT); Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN); or Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists (NSCOT))
  • Two (2) years’ clinical experience required
  • If not available, candidates with less experience will be considered on a developmental scale
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
