Our construction group of Central Ontario (Brampton) is looking to hire a Construction Inspector. The inspector will be responsible for inspection services on contracts for private, municipal, and Ministry clients under the guidance of a Contract Administrator or Project Manager. **This is a Casual/contract position.
Your Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
- Oversee, document, review, and assess contractor’s compliance with contractual requirements.
- Take accurate and detailed measurements of all work performed by the contractor to ensure accurate payments for work performed.
- Assist the Contract Administrator in preparing various internal/external reports and other status reports to Client.
- Assist the Contract Administrator with the review of contractor submissions (critical path schedules, field changes, monthly payment certificates etc.) for compliance with contractual obligations.
- Confirm the appropriate qualifications and certifications for all contractor employees, resources, and equipment.
The Skills, Knowledge and Abilities We Seek
- Experience working with Metrolink, TTC and municipalities for underground services, roads, and bridge construction
- Must possess a minimum of Three (3) years of inspection experience.
- Registration with OACETT as a Road Construction Inspector’s or an EIT designation from the PEO is required and similar project experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven analytical and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of appropriate laws and regulations (environmental, health and safety, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of design standards, Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications/Standard drawings(OPSS/OPSD’s), and methods and materials associated with municipal/highway construction.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel to construction sites.
