Construction Manager
Our client is searching for a Construction Manager for the distribution and execution of their civil work in Southern Ontario. This role will be responsible for the operational safety performance and compliance with the company and legislative requirements, customer management and operational excellence. This role reports to the client’s General Manager.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
- Be responsible for ensuring compliance and adherence to the company’s safety requirements and work procedures
- Be responsible for compliance to all relevant provincial, federal and client safety requirements
- Be responsible and ensure all incidents are investigated, root causes determined and implementation of identified improvements and corrections
- Develop a “safety first” culture within the Ontario team
- Understand and adhere to project budgets
- Monitor and deliver project profits and schedules
- Understand and manage contracts and projects
- Manage fleet requirements and associated utilizations
- Manage schedules and assign resources
- Support project estimates to verify resources and durations and ensure all site and contractual risks are understood
- Implement and verify compliance to HR procedures for field operations
- Mentor other team members and identify key team members
- Ensuring compliance with union/non-union, collective agreements/dispute resolutions
- Develop relationships with key leaders and union leaders
Your strengths include:
- Must have at least one of the following: Licensed Power Lineman or Construction Electrician Technologist
- Experience in Electrical Utility Trade (electrical and civil components)
- 15+ years experience in the civil construction or electrical industries
- Communication abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Decision making skills
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills
- Understanding of industry markets
- Computer skills including the ability to operate spreadsheet and word processing programs
