Golder has a new opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our Construction’s team based in Vancouver

The Operations Manager – Civil is a senior role responsible for the smooth and effective delivery of construction projects that meet client expectations by maintaining a trained and motivated work force and by implementing efficient and cost-effective construction methods.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Provide leadership within the construction national team to develop business and project opportunities, and win projects both externally and internally to build top line and backlog for the Operation.
  • Project Management,and working in close collaboration and support of Project Managers, Design Managers, Engineers and project teams for successful execution and delivery of projects.
  • Lead and develop opportunities, including pre-construction activities and services and working in close collaboration with Estimators, Operation and Project Managers, Design Managers, Engineers and proposal and opportunity teams for bid submissions.
  • Support development of prequalified supplier and subcontractor list for proposal and project execution.
  • Providing construction perspective and input for early contractor involvement (ECI) services, toward the development of engineering designs, drawings and specifications, and estimating in support of consulting practice.
  • Participate in opportunity and project risk assessments and constructability reviews.
  • Working closely with management, managers and project controls staff to monitor and report on project progress.
  • Resolving technical and construction related problems as they arise.
  • Ensuring that pre-construction and construction management procedures and processes are followed.
  • Support and leadership to identify and execute a focused business development strategy aligned with national and regional objectives, capability and expertise.
  • Leading and supporting client and project meetings.
  • Support recruitment efforts to build core team and strengthen local capability and expertise within the Construction Group.
  • Monitor & supervise site staff and site contractors.
  • Constantly monitors field personnel morale and bring to the attention of the Group Leader.
  • Provide guidance/mentorship to entry level Golder employees.

Qualifications

You will have a background in:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel and understanding of database software
