Overview

Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have an opportunity for a Construction Project Manager to join our Real Estate team in Stellarton, NS.

Job Description

What you’ll get to do in this fast-paced role:

  • Work within, manage and maintain a National Project Management software system.
  • Assist in providing input for the development of Capital Plan projects (duration and budget)
  • Deliver approved and assigned Capital plan projects on Time and on Budget
  • Co-ordinate and review project drawings, specifications and other contract documents for compliance, intent and completeness
  • Ensure that all owner supplied equipment shop drawings are expeditiously issued and approved in order to meet schedule requirements
  • Itemize and bring forward total project construction costs.
  • Continually evaluate construction costs.
  • Develop and Coordinate construction phasing plan with retail operations and other project stakeholders.
  • Communicate schedule and phasing to minimalize disruption to existing store operations.
  • Coordinated project development with Construction Management Team, Architect, Consultants, Internal Design team and Internal Equipment Buyer.
  • Ensure that long lead delivery item, construction products and owner supplied equipment is ordered on time to meet schedules.
  • Review scope of work changes with stakeholders. Price and submit for approval
  • Submit regular project cost reports and schedule impacts
  • Ensure that all inspections and testing of construction components are performed throughout project.
  • Ensure inspection reports are properly distributed and acted upon in a timely manner.
  • Review and approve project related, invoices, monthly progress claims and equipment invoice payments. Return to sender when revisions are required.
  • Obtain all Close Out documents – as-built drawings, warranties, maintenance manuals. Ensure these are properly distributed and filed in National Project Management software program.
  • Obtain and issue final area certifications for Real Estate Department.
  • Schedule and coordinate year-end warranty inspection for construction projects. Turnover to the Sobeys Maintenance Department.
  • In conjunction with National Finance, participate in the project interview process at the conclusion of all projects

Job Requirements

  • Construction knowledge or experience
  • 5 years of project management experience involving all disciplines of construction for retail and commercial developments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction details. Ability to understand construction drawings and specification.
