The opportunity
Reporting to the Manager – Construction Services West based in Spruce Grove, AB this position provides pipeline construction / maintenance support services including planning and coordinating work activities for the Construction Services crews.
What you’ll do
- Develop short and long-range schedules and work plans
- Liaise with Project Management personnel to establish construction requirements for projects and pipeline integrity work
- Coordinate with Regional Field Work Planners to arrange regional support for construction activities including outages
- Provide logistics support to Construction Crews for materials and services with external vendors as required
- Arrange third party contractors, external vendors and suppliers as required
- Assist Construction Services West Manager in monitoring work activities and tracking team performance metrics
- Assist with cost performance tracking, analysis and forecasting
- Provide cost estimates to complete SOW
- Manage fleet vehicles, driver & equipment files, including coordinating annual inspections, permitting, maintenance of vehicles and heavy equipment
- Assist with capital purchases
- Coordinate compliance and other required training for Construction Services team
- Backfill for Construction Services West Manager as required
- Site visits and travel to field locations will be required
Minimum Qualifications
- Post-Secondary education in engineering technology or a related field
- 6 years’ experience with pipeline and facilities construction, operations, or related work planning activity
- Scheduling and planning experience including using tools such as MS Outlook Calendar and MS Project
- Extensive knowledge of MS Office suite of tools including: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of SAP scheduling, work orders, requisitions and Supply Chain material procurement processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of pipeline construction, coating, hydrostatic testing, welding and quality control/assurance experience
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, mentoring, guidance skills
- Experience planning and coordinating activities involving internal and external parties
- Ability to read construction drawings to identify issues, assess construction requirements including materials and transportation requirements
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and time management skills
This position requires candidates to:
- Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract (record) for review
- Periodic field location travel
