Our well established Oil and Gas client’s Tailings and Lease Development Department is seeking an experienced and driven Construction Specialist to provide support to our Operations Production, Mining and Extraction function in Fort McMurray, AB

Please note that this position is located in Fort McMurray, AB and local candidates are preferred. Non-local candidates will be considered but must be willing to secure their own accommodations, as there is no camp, LOA, or accommodation allowance provided.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collect and Analyze inspection data, develop trends and formulate recommendations for assigned
  • Provides input to the Project Manager to help successfully plan, engineer, construct, and turn over the Project.
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish.
  • Plan and prepare construction milestones and schedules.
  • Provide guidance to field workers.
  • Monitor progress against established schedules by having daily field checks.
  • Carry out ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the performance of contractors, including close monitoring of budgets and expenditure, and ensure cost-effective use of funds.
  • Report on construction progress, constraints and complications and propose solutions.
  • Implement quality control, business controls and safety programs (using company’s LPS system effectively).
  • Attend or organize project meetings (Kick off meetings, Project Status meetings etc…).
  • Other roles as required

Qualifications:

Experience and Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Two year Community College or Technical Institute Diploma
  • Journeyman Trade Ticket preferred
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience
  • CSO Common Safety Orientation (or equivalent) (or must obtain prior to start)
  • If this position is classified as safety risk sensitive, you must also be able to pass pre-access drug & alcohol testing.
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • Authorized to legally work in Canada (eligible to work in the country for the duration of the assignment.

  • SCBA Mask Fir (Scott AV200)(Self Contained breathing apparatus)
  • Driving on site
