Work Arrangements

The Veterinary Technology Program in the Faculty of Science and Technology at Douglas College is seeking a contract instructor beginning in the Fall 2022 semester.

The successful candidate must be able to teach at the Coquitlam Campus and may be expected to travel to the New Westminster Campus from time to time. Transportation to off-site locations will also be required.

The Role

The Veterinary Technology Program at Douglas College is a two year diploma program. Students learn a broad set of skills to support Veterinarians in clinical and research settings and graduates are in high demand. For additional program information, please see:

We are currently seeking applicants for a contract faculty position to deliver VTEC 2107 – Large Animal Clinics, in the Fall 2022 semester. This course covers many aspects of large animal veterinary technology. Topics include handling and restraint, husbandry, comparative anatomy, medical procedures, surgical procedures and preventative medicine of equines, ruminants, porcines and South American camelids.

Responsibilities

You will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in College courses. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain quality learner-centered instruction.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need

Successful applicants will have a minimum of one of the following:
– Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an accredited university and registration with the College of Veterinarians of BC; or
– A Master’s degree in conjunction with a diploma in Animal Health Technology or Veterinary Technology from an accredited program and registration with the BC Veterinary Technology Association (BCVTA)

Other combinations of experience and qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

In addition, successful candidates will have excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience with post-secondary teaching would be an asset.
