About this Opportunity

This position is subject to reduced hours and lay offs, as per the collective agreement.

This position is Guaranteed but not limited to no less then 20 hours per week.

Job Summary

Under the direction of a more senior cook, receives, prepares and cooks customers’ orders for a limited variety of short order food items, using a grill, deep fryer and related equipment; inspects food during and after preparation to ensure proper quality, quantity and seasoning; maintains proper food handling, equipment handling, sanitation and safety standards; operates all types of kitchen equipment; cleans work area, washes utensils and equipment. Performs related work as required.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must be able to read, write, understand and speak English; have food preparation experience in institutions or large restaurants, or completion of a recognized vocational course in large volume cooking; knowledge of grill cooking, practices, methods and procedures of large volume food preparation, cooking, decoration and service; personal hygiene, food handling, sanitation and safety precautions; care and use of kitchen utensils, knives and equipment; ability to follow work methods and instruct others of lesser classification in routine kitchen work as required; ability to maintain effective working relationships with others. Must be in good physical health and must be prepared to take a medical examination.
