Position Summary
As a Counsellor, you will be an integral part of a collaborative team focused on delivering seamless services and programs to our clients and customers. The Staff Clinician will support our Edmonton Clinic and Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), working alongside clinicians in providing mental health and addiction services. Hours of Work: Permanent Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week.
In light of current health events surrounding COVID-19, we have implemented measures for the safety of our staff and clients while continuing to deliver and support client access to counselling services. In mitigating possible health risks, our counselling services are currently offered and delivered virtually until further notice. We will support Staff Clinicians in a work-from-home set up until an appropriate time where services may revert at the intended Homewood Health office location.
What you’ll be doing
EFAP:
- Deliver EFAP services including confidential counselling, case management, and direct clinical services.
- Receive case assignments, establish treatment plans, and complete case progress notes
- Develop service plans which outline a specific plan of action with each client under regular consultation
- Deliver solution focused brief therapy (in-person & telephonic). Complete comprehensive psycho-social assessment on clients as needed
- Participate in in-house training as required
- Provide flexible evening client hours, minimum two nights per week
- Provide afterhours crisis calls support from the Client Services Centre
Clinic:
- Deliver evidence based mental health, addiction and trauma treatment in individual and group settings
- Provide mental health, addiction and trauma clinical assessments, case reviews, comprehensive evaluation and treatment planning, therapeutic interventions and discharge planning
- Provide psycho-educational skill building sessions for clients
- Participate in team meetings and provide clinical support to staff in delivering evidence informed treatment
- Collaborate with colleagues across services including Homewood Clinics, Disability Prevention Services, Return to Work, Homewood Health Centre, Homewood Research Institute and other interdisciplinary teams
- Provide some evening hours to support the recovery management groups
What we’re looking for
- Masters in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or other related discipline
- Must hold valid registration with the relevant governing body
- Minimum 3 years’ counselling experience, including treating concurrent psychological and substance use disorders
- Experience with group and individual psychotherapy, solution-focused therapy, and CBT.
- Knowledge of assessment, crisis management, and EFAP services an asset.
- Experience treating trauma and stressor related disorders in First Responder and Military populations would be an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, French skills would be an asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
