A fast-paced role for a highly organized and detail-oriented team player
As a branch within the Ministry of Attorney General, Court Services employs approximately 1,300 staff to deliver programs and services at 89 court locations, in person, by telephone, via video and the Internet. The branch’s programs and services include case documentation and adjudication support (i.e. case initiation and processing, fee collection, file and exhibit management, court clerking, court records and transcripts, interpreter services, and the preparation and dissemination of court orders); court and courthouse security and court order enforcement including holding and transporting of prisoners by ground and air from police jails and from federal and provincial correctional facilities; the collection of court fines; and the civil bailiff process. The branch also manages and maintains all courthouse facilities.
As a Court Clerk you will provide effective and efficient administrative support to all levels of court (Supreme Court, Provincial Court) as well as registry duties when required. Flexibility and organization will be key in this role as you provide administrative services to the Court and Registry. Interacting with members of the public, the bar and the judiciary, you will be responsible for pre-/post- and in-court duties including preparing the courtroom and its equipment for court events. Your role will involve managing court files by reviewing them for accuracy; and completing, distributing and interpreting court documents while providing exceptional service to the public.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experienceas outlined below:
- Grade 12 completed supplemented by Post-secondary education in business administration or business courses.
- One-year clerical experience in an office environment.
- Experience/training in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, internet and other standard compute application.
- Must be able to type 50 wpm.
Preference may be given to applicants who have the following:
- Experience with MS Teams.
- Experience with JUSTIN and/or CEIS.
- Experience/training in control and security of public monies and accounting documents in a Court Services Environment.
PROVISOS:
- Must be willing to attend and complete relevant training programs
- For part time positions: the hours and days of work will vary depending on operational demand, working extra hours and short notice schedule changes may be required
- May be required to work overtime due to late court sittings and on short notice
- May be required to work in other areas of Court Services
- Travel is required which could include travel in adverse weather conditions
- Must be flexible with working hours, hours of work vary depending on operational demands
- Exposure to unpleasant dealings with upset public and clients
- Holder of a valid B.C. driver’s licence
