The Opportunity
Corporate Development and Applied Research
Within SAIT, the Corporate Development, Applied Research and Innovation (CDARI) division employs all non-credit instructors and Subject Matter experts who facilitate and build curriculum within the Centre of Continuing Education & Professional Studies, Corporate Training, and International Projects. We are looking to add qualified industry professionals to consult on curriculum development for cohorts of independent adult learners.
Students of this division can take non-credit classes in any number or order, as they do not count toward a degree or diploma program. These course offerings are geared to provide learners with professional development or re-training.
The Subject Matter Expert is to make use of any and all available resources, methods, techniques and strategies to ensure curriculum enables student success and in an engaged, hands-on environment. The Subject Matter Expert is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues and instructional designers to create a learning atmosphere which is pedagogically sound, technically supported, and innovative in nature.

The Role
- As an expert you will provide strategic guidance and leadership in the areas of Energy Modelling in Construction
- You will collaborate with an Instructional Designer to create course content and materials. This includes being responsible for collaborating on the course learning outcomes, objectives, learning activities and assessments.
- Your primary goal is to ensure that the content of the courses provides an effective learning experience and meets the planned outcomes for each course as well as for the overall certificate program.
We are looking to develop a Building Physics & Energy Modelling Certificate in partnership with Green Building Technologies (GBT) and the School of Construction (SoC), starting with a Building Physics micro-credential course.
For the first course, we anticipate approximately 40-60 hours of development. This is a part-time opportunity with scheduled meetings with various stakeholders at SAIT.

Thermodynamics
Building envelope
Heating and Lighting Systems
NBC 9.36 (Energy Efficiency in Homes)
NECB (National Energy Code for Buildings
Energy Modelling
Energy Efficient Design
Qualifications
- Minimum post-secondary Degree in Physics and Masters in Architecture is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Involvement and board member with the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) is an asset
- Advisory member with SAIT Green Building Technologies (GBT) is an asset
- Strong understanding of building science, building envelope and energy modelling.
- Have and open and willing attitude to share knowledge, be guided, and take instruction from an instructional designer
- Have strong English written and verbal communication skills to articulate concepts, ideas, and theory clearly
- Have strong attention to detail in written communication
- Maintain reliability and accountability to timelines and project milestones
- Maintain attentiveness to the deliverables of the engagement and respond to communication in a timely manner
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Previous experience developing curriculum (preferred)
- Proficiency with virtual meeting tools and technology: Zoom, MS Teams, Webcam, Microphone
