AtkinsRéalis is in search of a Deputy Construction Director to join a transformative transit infrastructure project in Calgary.

The Green Line LRT (light rail transit) Project is the largest infrastructure investment in Calgary’s history. It comes with $5.5 billion in commitments from the Government of Canada, Government of Alberta and The City of Calgary. The Green Line LRT is designed to be both a transit system and a platform for future city building opportunities. It encourages redevelopment and investment in Calgary businesses and communities. At 18-kms, Phase 1 will create 20,000 jobs, $2.2B in long-term city-shaping benefits and more than $6B in property value uplift by 2040.

You will be embedded within the client office team environment, and as such you are required to be in downtown Calgary, for the full working week.

Your role within the team:

• Ensure that all construction works are in accordance with design specifications and are carried out in accordance with budget and quality standards.
• Provide a broad range of high quality and reliable construction expertise in a proactive manner.
• Provides field execution leadership during the construction phase.
• Receive functional and operational guidance from the Construction Director and provide technical and administrative guidance to construction personnel on site.
• Lead the development and implementation of a training program for junior staff as well as all project security programs while ensuring they strictly adhere to federal and national security codes.
• Maintain ongoing contact with customers, subcontractors and suppliers.

The ideal candidate:

• University degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction management/ project management, including 5years as a supervisor and director of major construction projects of $500M or more.
• Experience in design and supervision of infrastructure construction.
• Experience working and coordinating the technical aspects of bids.
• 15 years of experience in the realization and management of major rail and / or road infrastructure projects and / or passenger transport in a similar role.
• Participation in a similar role for at least 3 years on an LRT project.
• Experience in Target Price project is a plus.
• Experience in tunnels, heavy civils is a plus.
• Combination of contractor and owner side experience is a plus.
