Working in the Real Estate, Development and Design department; the Design (Project) Technologist is responsible for translating design intent into a complete set of construction documents. Through coordination with JOEY Restaurant Group’s design and brand standards, engineering and Building Code requirements, the Design Technologist supports all new and renovation projects, for multiple brands under JRG and across North America.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Project Technologist, produce complete ID working drawings and supplementary documents from initial design development through completion of construction.
  • Coordinate with the project team to ensure design intent and brand standards are met and incorporated into project documentation.
  • Create and manage project electronic files.
  • Attend project related meetings from design development stages through construction phases involving internal stakeholders and external consultants, vendors and contractors.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and vendors.
  • Coordinate with the Project Designer to review shop drawings and submittals during construction phases for compliance with contract documents and compliance, as well as with design and brand standards.
  • Assist the Project Manager & Project Manager in coordinating with the contractor during construction phases by producing addendums and support drawings for construction documents.
  • Maintain a library of standards.
  • Directly support the CapEX team by producing drawing studies, individual drawing sheets, and comprehensive construction drawing packages for renovation scopes
  • Takes leadership role in development and maintenance of drawing, document and project standards
  • Provides post-occupancy evaluation of completed projects to document lessons in durability, maintenance and general effectiveness of the design intentions

Requirements

  • Interior Design Technology diploma, Architectural Technology diploma or equivalent diploma.
  • Minimum of 3 years related interior construction documentation experience, hospitality (restaurant) projects is an asset
  • Working knowledge of building codes and accessibility codes
  • AutoCad proficiency is mandatory
  • Experience with other design and drafting tools such as Sketchup and Photoshop is considered an asset
  • This is an in-office role based in Vancouver

Salary Range:

$70,000 – $90,000 per year
