The development officer will, with the guidance and support of the Manager, Events, Sponsorship and Major Gifts, manage a portfolio of engaged high-level sponsorships and donors, specifically focusing on stewardship and contract fulfillment, while providing support to advance the department’s financial goals. The position will also be responsible for supporting the execution of various external events.

How you will make an impact

Events

  • Support event activation and execution including guestlist management, donor communications, coordinating logistics where needed.
  • Working regularly in Raisers Edge; update account information and partnership conversations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Philanthropy team, Marketing and Communications team, Audience Development team, and Digital team, to lead and coordinate aspects of the events.
  • Preparation of post-event information, reporting stats and measurement metrics.

Partnership Fulfillment & Stewardship

  • Support the implementation and activation of all partnership contract deliverables.
  • Identify, build and steward relationships with partners, potential partners and major donors, including using qualification tools and research capacity to create profiles.
  • Provide administrative support to external sponsorship agency, i.e. sourcing internal documents, research, making introductions to streamline conversations, etc.
  • Working regularly in Raisers Edge; update account information and partnership conversations. Ensuring all activity is recorded in R.E. within 24 hours.
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with existing partners inspire their support, work with the Manager of Partnerships and Events to ensure proper communication and touchpoints are attributed.
  • Fostering ongoing partner loyalty through meaningful stewardship and recognition and secure ongoing annual support from donors.
  • Become the super-user for the new programming suite being used to replace Broadview.
  • Provide timely financial and program status reports to the Manager, and other key stakeholders as needed.

Other Duties

  • Administrative support including contract execution, invoice processing, pipeline management.
  • Support the identification and development of emotionally compelling stories that demonstrate the impact philanthropy has in the educational landscape.

What you will bring to TVO

  • University degree in a related discipline preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising with a proven track record involving face to face cultivation, solicitation and relationship management
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact comfortably, tactfully, professionally and effectively with a wide range of internal and external constituencies and stakeholders, including volunteers, donors, staff, and community members
  • Superior written communication and proposal writing skills, and experience in prospect research
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and flexibility in meeting shifting demands and priorities
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think creatively to problem solve
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and working with donor databases
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge is an asset
