Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Vice President (VP), the Director plays a critical role in leading and facilitating strategic program planning and priority initiatives with the Portfolio. In addition, the Director is responsible for the effective coordination of the work of the VP office and that of the Portfolio leadership team as Island Health moves forward to achieve their overall vision and mission.

Key responsibilities of this role include working closely with the VP, and portfolio leadership team to strengthen and formalize ties and lines of communication within the portfolio, as well as with other program areas and portfolios internal and external to Island Health. The Director is responsible for ensuring a timely and effective response to emerging issues as well as ensuring a continued focus on medium and long-term goals in alignment with the Island Health Strategic Framework. The Director works collaboratively with the VP and portfolio leadership team to ensure clear lines of communication and promotes effective communication and decision making within the Portfolio. The Director works with the VP and portfolio leadership team to strengthen knowledge translation and evidence synthesis of data and information through communication and community engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Masters Degree with 10 (ten) years of recent related experience that includes managing strategic and operational projects, and facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups (including the public, senior and middle management, physicians and staff).
