Work Arrangements

The Early Childhood Education Department in the Faculty of Applied Community Studies is hiring contract faculty instructors for our Winter semester (January-April 2024).

The Role

You will instruct students in the Department of Early Childhood Education.

The Department offers a two-year diploma program that prepares students for basic ECE certification as well as certification as a Special Needs Educator. Students may also complete a post-diploma citation in Infant-Toddler Care.

Responsibilities

You will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in the Early Childhood Education Diploma program. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain high quality learner-centred instruction.

Further contracts may be awarded in the future.

To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need

  • The successful candidate(s) will have a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education or in a closely related field (e.g Education, Psychology, Child & Youth Care).
  • Experience or strong interest in teaching applied knowledge and skills to post-secondary students.
  • Experience caring for and/or working with young children in a childcare, preschool or kindergarten setting.
  • Interest and/or proficiency in technology using an online-based teaching & learning platform.
  • Excellent communication & time management skills.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Have a computer.
  • Applicants with Indigenous ancestry and/or knowledge of and experience with Indigenous organizations and communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
