Since its inception in 1973, Western Pacific Enterprises, a subsidiary of MYR Group Inc, has successfully completed many electrical construction projects for commercial, industrial and utility clients throughout Western Canada. Innovation and an enthusiasm for challenging projects have made WPE one of British Columbia’s largest electrical contractors. WPE serves all aspects of the electrical industry, except transmission construction. They have built some of the most prominent fixtures of Vancouver and western Canada, including projects such as BC Place Arena, the Convention Centre and the entire Skytrain System.
The Engineer will work with both the Operations and Estimating teams in the design of systems and components for electrical construction projects.
Duties
- Design and analysis of low voltage building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting systems, fire alarm systems and special systems
- Perform electrical design using AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, Bluebeam and other design products
- Coordinate electrical design with HVAC engineers, plumbing engineers, structural engineers, architects, etc.
- Perform site visits to provide technical support or to collect/verify electrical data
- Work closely with business owners, contractors, and city and county personnel
- Test equipment and isolate defects
- Integrate components into the final design
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate program of assigned engineering work and projects
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the design and change if necessary
- Estimate cost, reliability, and safety factors
- Use computers extensively to produce and analyze designs
- Control the efficiency of processes
- Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location
- Other duties as assigned

Principal Skills
- Competent in the use of electrical engineering software
- Strong understanding of electrical manufacturing processes
- Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot as the need arises
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and engineering software applications
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in using computer-aided design & engineering software to create project plans & circuit diagrams to design the electrical systems and components
Preferred Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
