Translations.com’s Montreal office is looking for English to French translator-revisers with varying levels of experience (intermediate or senior) in the field of retail, multicultural marketing, manufacturing, construction, IT , technical medical content, travel/tourism, corporate HR, legal/contracts. You will be responsible for translating and revising documents belonging to various clients or a single client.
Job Description:
- Translate and proofread various types of documents (based on subject matter expertise)
- Ensure that translated documents reflect the original source document.
- Effectively maintain formal and disciplined operating procedures in a variety of client projects.
- Track non-compliances and project-specific resolutions
- Personally carry out the quality assurance steps of the project
- Properly use all appropriate additional documents (refer to client QAP, reference documents, glossaries, etc.) ensuring they are consistent throughout the work.
- Be responsible for any errors/omissions associated with a project in which they are involved
Required Skills:
- Possess excellent communication skills (written and oral) and cultural knowledge in the source and target languages (English and French in Canada).
- Pay particular attention to language points, spelling and grammar.
- Provide creative translations for high visibility slogans and texts that may not be easily and adequately translated into other languages.
- Possess excellent organizational skills and ability to stay focused on the tasks at hand.
- Quickly acquire new skills and have ease in working with various technologies and interfaces.
- Be able to handle a multitude of projects and manage constantly changing priorities with ease while accurately monitoring and meeting each deadline.
- Maintain professionalism in all situations, particularly in the event of tight deadlines.
- Adopt a positive attitude towards change, a customer-focused mindset and a preventative approach to avoid and resolve problems.
Experience and skills required:
- Have at least a bachelor’s degree or certificate in translation or the equivalent.
- Perfectly master Canadian French and speak English fluently.
- Have experience translating and revising documents related to the field.
- Have excellent command of MS Office suite and Adobe software (i.e., for marking up PDF documents), and computer-assisted translation tools. Having experience with other document sharing platforms is considered an asset.
