The role:
- Responsible for the planning, identifying and evaluating the impact of all workplace environmental health and safety risks; Manager H&S Coordinator
- Act as liaison with Ministry of Labour (MOL) in pro-active and reactive circumstances
- Establish and maintain relationship with local authorities (Fire and Police) to ensure safety protocols are in place for the facility
- Responsible for implementing training matrix to ensures supervisors competency and compliance , as defined in the OHSA
- Responsible for managing all training and compliance for Health and safety programs
- Inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards
- Liaise with other departments in the planning phase for new equipment or processes to ensure OHSA standards are met
- Investigate accidents to identify their causes and find ways to prevent them in the future
- Manage the Joint Health and Safety Committee and appoint a suitable Health and Safety Chair to represent Human Resources, Environmental Health and Safety
- Maintain statistics on Workplace Injuries/ occurrences, near misses and implement preventative measures as needed; report regularly to Senior Manager, Human Resources and Environmental Health and Safety
You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or post-graduate diploma from accredited university/college
- Minimum 8 years experience working in Environmental Health and Safety role in manufacturing environment
- Foundry experience an asset
- Minimum 3 years experience in a leadership role
- First Aid/CPR certified and willingness to maintain current credentials
- Strong history with interpretation of Occupational Health and Safety Act
- WHMIS training and able to identify hazardous substances by the affiliated symbols
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
