Located in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario (“the AGO”) is one of the largest art museums in North America, with a collection of close to 100,000 works. Through the collection as well as collaborations with leading museums around the world, the AGO presents wide-ranging exhibitions and programs to approximately 1 million visitors annually.

We are currently seeking a Facilitator, Family Programs to join our Education and Programming team. Under the direction of the Manager, School Programs and Early Learning the incumbent will work in conjunction with staff, volunteers and interns and will facilitate family programs that are engaging, innovative, child-centred, fun, accessible and equitable as well as being responsive to visitor needs and program objectives. He/She/They will facilitate relevant connections through a range of activities that are participatory and experimental and model engagement with young children in making and thinking about art.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Working toward or completed Post-secondary studies in Early Childhood Education, combined with some studio art experience
  • Demonstrated facilitating experience with formal and/or informal learning environments involving early learners and their adult caregivers
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and a desire to work as part of an instructional team comprised of staff, interns, and volunteers
  • Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and excellent customer service
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and self-reflective
  • Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia learning theory
  • Ability to speak French and/or a language other than English is an assett.
