Reporting to the Senior Finance Officer, the Finance Data Entry Clerk will provide accounting and administration support for a variety of departments and sections within guidelines, policies and procedures of the department and the Government of Nunavut (GN) to ensure that financial objectives are met in an efficient and effective manner.

The Finance Data Entry Clerk provides accounting and administration support to the GN Departments and is responsible to ensure that financial data is received and input into the system in a timely and efficient manner. The incumbent participates in projects in conjunction with the daily activities required to carry out the responsibilities of the position.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through Grade 12 education; working knowledge of computer word processing and excel spreadsheets and knowledge of basic office environment, data processing and filing systems.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, English and French.

Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official language is an asset.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.

Honourable George Hickes Minister of Finance

George Hickes was first elected in the general election held on October 28, 2013, to represent the constituency of Iqaluit-Tasiluk in the 4th Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. He was re-elected to the 5th Legislative Assembly of Nunavut on October 30, 2017. On June 14, 2018, Mr. Hickes assumed the role of Minister of Finance. In November 2015, he was named Minister responsible for the Nunavut Housing Corporation and Minister responsible for the Qulliq Energy Corporation. In June 2016 he became the Minister of Health and Minister responsible for Suicide Prevention.
